Classical Greek Wedding Hairstyles Are Elegant

by Bennetta Elliott

The theme of your wedding will determine the type of hairdo that you should be
wearing. The same goes for your attire. A simple yet surprisingly elegant theme
is one that is along the lines of Ancient Greek Art. This is characterized by
long graceful outlines and gentle undulating folds. You should research on
classical Greek hairstyles to get a better idea. Their hairstyles will be simple
to execute since nothing, except the natural beauty of hair will be involved.

The love of the ancient Greeks for balance and proportion shows very well in
their art as in their fashion. In the Greek idiom, the personality is not lost
in embellishments and women typically wore hair styles which would have been
severe if not for the typical presence of curly locks. In the same spirit of
economy, they usually swept their locks upwards and away from the face.

Apparently, fixing their hair up was mostly done for convenience by the Greeks.
Rarely do we see images with embellished hair cuts. The ultimate embellishment
for them was the bun which can be seen in all sizes and shapes on images of
ancient Greek women. The Venus of Milo wears a bun on the back of her head. Of
course, the way her hair was fixed is suited to the shape of her face.

Not all women would look well with that kind of a bun as their wedding
hairstyle. Hairstyle experts have created practical variations on the bun
hairdo.

To put give your hairdo a Greek wedding look, you might want to pull it up
loosely towards the upper back of your head. Then you simply have to let the
ends of the hair drape down your shoulders and back. You will need to put curls
on the portion of the hair below the head, preferably loose ones.

You can do it yourself by winding the hair in wide rollers. The hair has to be
wet to make it easier to shape. Also, after everything has been set into
rollers, you can spray some setting lotion on it. Remember that the sections to
be rolled need to be thin enough for thee curls to be visible.

With your hair blower in low-heat mode, make a few passes on your hair until
they are dry on the outside. The insides may still be wet so let them stay on
the rollers for a time before unwinding and fixing them up.

Curl the strands horizontally or diagonally backwards. Giving an upward or a
downward slant to the curls achieves different effects. If you need to
experiment first, don't use setting lotion initially, just water.

Other hair stylists would recommend letting the hair drape down and frame the
face. This is usually recommended for women who have large-ish jaws and somewhat
fat faces. The hair frames the face with vertical lines that remove some of the
fullness from it.

This type of hairdo will need a bit of shearing. Specifically, the hairs that
fall around the face should be cut in long layers to allow them to frame the
face gracefully instead of just dropping down and adding more bulky to your
face.
